Steppy Bed was created out of our own personal need for our chihuahua, Layla. Layla suffered from a luxated patella, as is common in small dogs. Luxated patella is the movement of the kneecap from the groove it sits in. She obtained her first injury from jumping off the bed. The other knee failed due to overusing to compensate for her hurt knee. Have you ever seen a dog hop on 3 legs? It may be a symptom of a luxated patella, but certainly a symptom of another injury.
We tried many different types of steps. The plastic ones were unstable. The wood ones were hard. Ramps take up a lot of room to achieve desired height, are heavy, and cumbersome.
And we stubbed our toes too many times in the middle of the night!
Three knee surgeries later (one failed), we needed something more secure, comfortable, and a product she could trust. Plus, she loves sleeping high off the ground.
